Canton - Dr. Paul Marion Alexander, age 90, passed away on Monday, August 20, 2018 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home.
A native of Akron, Ohio, he was the son of the late George Dewey and Orpha Wagner Alexander. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life, Dora Jean Alexander, who died in 1996 and his second wife, Gladys Alexander, who died in 2012. He was a United States WWII Marine veteran. Paul was a professor at Horry-George Town College and Clemson University. He earned his Ph.D in Plant Pathology at Ohio State University. Paul enjoyed stained glass, cross stitching, listening to jazz and enjoyed doing volunteer work at the Conway Hospital which Paul was known as the "cookie man".
He is survived by three sons, Geoffrey David Alexander (Hillary) of Banner Elk; James Clifford Alexander (Lisa) of Waynesville and Richard Lee Alexander (Shirley) of Warm Springs, GA.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The family will have a private service.
